Im 17 and im wondering if i could get some kind of credit card?
Answers:
Trust me, you don't want a credit card at 17... Get a debit card through your bank...you will probably need your parents signature for that, but at least that way you are only spending money you already have...You can buy online, and do everything that you can with a credit card, but only for the amount you are worth..It's really good practice also, to see if you are responsible enough for a credit card... I got one my freshman year of college and it totally effed up my credit..I am 25 now and finally bouncing back... Think before you charge ;)
No your parents can get it for you though, thats how i got my first 2
Not until you're 18. Minors cannot enter into a contract of any kind. You are a minor until 18.
Not normally. It depends on what the age of majority is in your state - most states its 18.
Not unless your parents get it for you, or you are a gazillionaire.
Yeah, but it might be best to wait until youre 18. I think if you're under 18 it has to be in your parents name, but I'm not sure.
Not legally. You must be 18 before entering into any type of financial contract. You can be listed as an authorized user if someone over 18 had a card, like if a parent applied for a card and got one for you as an authorized user.
No. You need to be of legal age to get a credit card. Even then, I'd suggest that you wait until you're older, have a steady income, and better able to handle your own finances. I recommend Suzy Orman's new book entitled, "Young, Fabulous and Broke." She has some good suggestions.
If you can prove you are working through paystubs or contact info there is one card you can get in most states if you are 17 or older. It is a prepaid card that acts and looks just like a regular credit card, you need to put money on by going to certain locations around the US. This is a good card for first-timers because it counts on your credit report and you wont be able to spend more than you have. Stay away from regular credit cards for as long as possible, most of you will just go into debt. and pay in the longrun. Dont buy something that you cant afford and dont be buying small items in a store like a bag of funyuns and throwing them on your card, no need to pay a bank interest for a item worth less than $1. The link to this card is below.
i wish..but im gonna be 18 soon so ill get my own..yay
