Can I lease an apartment while I am in chapter 13?

We are currently in a chapter 13, and we had to relocate for my husband's job. Are we allowed to lease and apartment and would an apartment complex be willing to rent to us?

Answer:
bankruptcy provides protection from creditors but not predjudice.
there are understanding landlords, but they are hard to find! Be honest about financial situation and observe the response. be prepared to move on to other choices. there are places that see positive in honesty and show compassion. Good luck, and happy hunting.
Depends what book you are reading.
the odds are no
Your not a chapter7, youve agreed in some way to pay your debts. Good for you. You might be looking at a larger than normal security deposit, i wouldnt suspect much trouble for you.
That depends on who you are renting from. When you rent, the landlord or property manager may pull your credit. If they don't like what they see, you can list your previous Landlord as a reference and they can call them to verify you have made your payments in the past on time and without fail. It just depends on the landlord and what they are willing to accept.
