Other cards have Visa-similar policies with regards to I.D.?

I know that, according to Visa's rules, merchants are not allowed to deny your card because you do not show I.D. You cannot make photo I.D. a "condition of acceptance."

Do any other cards (MasterCard, Discover, AmEx) have this same policy?

Answers:
Credit Cards were developed in the early 1960's for conevenice by Wells Fargo Bank and Bank of America in California. Were the concept was first tested and marketed to consumers and merchants.

They cannot require a PHOTO ID. All they generally view is the SIGNATURE to match to the Signer of the purchase.

It appears you may be a patron of a business which has had some Bank froud or stolen credit card paying customers?

You may want to use a different merchant?

You can complain to the VISA or MASTERCARD or AMEX or DISCOVER card companies as they have departments that deal with the issues related to the acceptance of their cards worldwide.

You can also report the MERCHANT to VISA and MC, and the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU in your area!

Credit Card Discrimination is NOT acceptable! You are using the card in good faith to make a purchase. The use of the card guarantees the payment to the merchant by your Bank on your behlaf and establishes a loan of money to you.

GOOD LUCK! :-)
