Is there a way to clear my credit report and start fresh? I dont even have credit cards!?

Answer:
If you don't have credit cards, you probably don't have much of a report unless you have other loans (student, car, etc.). Is your credit bad? Have you checked it? You can get your free credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com and see what's really on there. But no, there is no legal way to clear your report and start fresh.

If you have bad credit, you just need to start rebuilding it. Check out www.creditboards.com to learn how to do this.

Good luck!
Have you checked your credit with the three largest credit data collection companies? How do you know you have bad credit? If you do, you need to either get a copy and begin paying off debt, contest bogus charges, or file bankruptcy.
"reading between the lines", here, I'm assuming you have old/closed credit cards, collections, and installment loans that have bad histories.

You need to do a few things.

A) Pay off all collection accounts and then dispute them and try to get them deleted.

B) Pay off any other debts like credit cards that are still showing as owed and not "charged off". (Charge-offs are BAAAAD).

C) Open one or two new accounts to establish a 'new' history-- this is important. YOu cant just clear up old stuff without getting new, positive history going too.

D) Keep all balances to under 40% of their limit.

E) Dispute ALL late pays on your credit report, even if they are accurate.
First check your credit score. If you see anything that does not belong there, dispute it in writing. Even if its true or not. DISPUTE IT. If you owe anyone money, pay off the account with the highest interest. There is no way to start over. There are three credit report agenties that collect your credit info. If you are just starting out apply for a credit card and use it to the point that you can pay what is owed on it at the end of each month. Slowly you will build up your credit score.
Nope. Credit history is cumulative. However, you can dispute errors - thats about it. Credit history isn't only related to ccs. It is based on loan payments (cars, house, school), how much you have moved locations and such. The only thing you can do is start improving your credit, can't "erase" it.
Depoends on what is wrong with your credit report?
Yolanda,

Amanda H. seem to have it all worked out for you, I would definetly do what she recommends.
Nah, you're ruined for life. Maybe hookin' would be good for you.

I hear it's very lucrative. Ask your friends.
But I know where you're coming from. I had a credit card once but I got locked out.

I had to use it to open up the door and it got ruined.

So my credit is destroyed forever. It was a stupid thing to do.

I left my keys in the fishtank thinking, "I'll never forget them there."

Man, was I wrong.

I miss that fish. Hey do you have a fish? Nevermind.

Do you?

Mine was named Winthrop. He was my best friend.

But money got tight and I had to feed him to my cat.
It was a seniority issue. I had my cat longer that's all; nothing personal.
There certainly is. Not knowing why you would have a bad credit report, I would guess that your rating is based on poor payment of other things besides a credit card.
The best way to sraighten that out is to wake up to reality and start paying your bills on time. It's a long drawn out affair but it takes a period of time to correct the mistakes you have made in the past. You created the problem and only you can correct it.
First, clearing your credit report completely blank would be illegal. If you have collections against your credit pay off the most current ones but not more than 2 years from current date. For example; Today's date is Oct 2006. The latest collection you want to pay is dated Oct 2004. If you go back any further you are updating the information. Next, contact the 3 credit reporting companies to debate the validity of the older accounts in question. Almost 70% will get removed. Also, open up 3 credit card accounts with companies like Providian, Cross Country or even a secured credit card from banks like National City. Do not open department store credit cards. They are associated with a finance company. **Do Not Overdue by Applying with Every Credit Card Company**. This will bring your credit scores down. Pay the bill on time every month. Actually pay the bill on a bi-weekly basis. This will build your credit file faster.
