How long does a $898 employment paid tax lien stay on CR?

Employment tax lien for $898 w/interest now $1600 back in 1996 was paid in full Jan/20/06. Does it come off from the date that it was filed or the date it is paid and how many years will it stay on my CR. "THANKS" also was never contacted until Dec 05

Answer:
According to Section 605(a)(3) of the Fair Credit Reporting Act,

Information excluded from consumer reports. Except as authorized under subsection (b) of this section, no consumer reporting agency may make any consumer report containing any of the following items of information:

. . .

(3) Paid tax liens which, from date of payment, antedate the report by more than seven years.

Thus, the lien will show as PAID on your credit report until Jan 20, 13.
If its been paid it usually stays on 10 years.

Does it show being paid? if not and you have proof call the credit reporting agencies and dispute it, they may take it off your report if they can't find anything. or if you have proof its paid.
