I have a judgement What do I do?
Answer:
Only worry about it if its Child Support. I don't live in FL. but I have heard they are one of the worst states for back child support. As long as you are making an effort, i can't see a court making a big deal out of it. There's too many people out there not paying at all. just being a day late is nothing to worry about even if it is support. Good luck, and yes it seems like its just ex wife Jive!
If the judgment is for child support it is possible. they can do all that if you don't keep up. It is kinda like contempt of court. They can take your license and garnish wages for that. It won't ruin your life just make getting by a little harder. would it be better than being stuck with her?=)
Ruin your life.NO.make it very difficult.POSSIBLY.
If you missed payment they can garnish your wages, take away your license, and sell your property (car, jewelry, home and other valuables). But, since you paid only one day late, you fall within the 30 day gray period, so in this case she is "bull jiving" you.
She seems to have a vendetta out; I wouldn't give her any ammunition and try to pay on time if not early. Most judgments are enforced for 25 years.any chance it is almost up? :-)
If you lost a small claims case and do not pay as agreed you are in contempt of court.
In my state, that means the sherriff will pull you and and the judge will ask you to explain why you have not paid. The judges like to be cute with this. They say, can you afford $5 a week, if you say yes, then they say you have not paid anything but you could have paid $5 a week. Then they hold in jail until you raise the money.
For that amount of money, get it off your back. Take it out of your savings, get a credit card advance and get her out of your LIFE. She still has you by the bull jive until you are paid up in full.
My cousin would have her lawyer pull her ex in on Friday afternoon when he did not pay his child support, so he could spend the weekend in jail because he could not get someone to get the cash to make the payment before the court and banks closed. Couple times of her doing this he paid on time.
