Ordered food but now party is cancled?

Unfortunately with debit cards you do not have as many options when it comes to a dispute with a vendor over a purchase. The credit card companies tend to be better about resolving these kind of issues. In most cases you will be bound by store policy and whatever you can work out with the manager/owner.
I`d invite friends over and play cards and eat fajitas. But I agree that a week seems like enough notice where the restaraunt wouldnt be out of anything if they gave you a full refund. Especially if they want you or anyone you know to ever order food from there again.
without any notice about cancellations i doubt they have a legal to stand on esp since it is a week in advance, without some type of policy they will have to show some how they already in reliance of the party used in payroll food 95 dollars worth
if they balk i would sue in small claims or call a local newspaper TV station to see if they will get involved type of trouble shooter
Go back in there and furiously demand your money back. Make sure the other customers can hear you clearly and loudly state to the clerk that you are cancelling a week in advanced and no other decent caterer would hold back 50% of the refund for unbeknownst charges. This will make them fear losing customers and probably give you a full refund pronto, seems like you were too nice the first time around.
i suggest small claims court .. get all of your paperwork together go to daley center .. or one of the court houses
Did you sign anything when you placed the order? Did you READ every word on that document? I am willing to bet you signed something that DID spell out terms for canceling orders. I am also wiling to bet they are following those terms to the letter. If I am right YOU don't have a leg to stand on legally. If I am wrong, it depends on local laws. I agree with whoever said to take the food and have some friends over to eat it.
