Stupid Target return policy!?

I bought a vaccume at Target back in December and paid for it cash. I paid for it cash, but I dont have the receipt. I am aware of their stupid policy. No receipt no return, unless it was paid for by check or credit card. Nothing is wrong with the vaccume. I called Dirt Devil and they cant do ANYTHING except troubleshoot the unit. I hate Target. I am stuck with a vaccume. They refuse to take back and give me store credit. Any suggestions?

That's too bad hun. but put yourself in Targets place.

How do they know you bought the vacuum from them, since there's no paper trail?

Are you trying to return a used vacuum SIX MONTHS later because there's nothing wrong with it? What's the point of doing so? Need beer money? LOL!
Keep your receipts. Use credit
What can I say, learn to keep you receipts.
Do you not have the box? If the sku is still in the system, they should give you credit for up to 6 mos, I thought. Take it higher. I have always learned to keep receipts for up to 6 mos. I have run into your problem on many occasions.
why would they troubleshoot something that you say nothing is wrong with?
Cut your losses and either pay check or credit next time or shop elsewhere.
Along with the obvious answer of holding onto the receipt, don't shop there. Any store you want to buy from will have their return policy posted somewhere near the customer service desk. Read it to avoid future hassles. Target has been know to have a lousy return policy right along. Best Buy isn't very good either, but it's people who abuse return policies that cause most of these changes. Even Walmart is getting tougher on it. Your only apparent alternative is to re-sell the vacuum. Best of luck.
You want us to all say "Your right, target sucks"
But you lost your receipt, not them, and you are taking them a vaccume and want money for it? You could have stolen it for all they know. Try selling it on craigslist or e bay
keep receipts in a file on anything worth over $50
I have paid cash for items at Target and with no receipt have been able to return them. From what I understand you are limited to 2 returns per year with no receipt on cash-paid items. They take your drivers license number and keep track of it that way. I actually exceeded that limit last year and took my mom with me on a return so she could use her license. They only issue in-store-credit, but it's better that being stuck with a vacuum you don't want. Ask to speak to a manager, maybe the store clerk is just misinformed. Also, maybe because it was purchased 5 months ago, they couldn't accept a return. If you have all of the original packaging and the item is in perfect condition, since there is no proof of purchase date, I would try to return it again for in store credit with your drivers license and maybe say you just bought it, or that you received it as a gift. If that doesn't work, you could always sell it on ebay, at least re coop some of your money. Good luck!
Why is this Target's fault? You bought it, you've had it for SIX MONTHS, why on earth would you expect store credit? Do you think they could resell it? lol.

The reasons they won't accept it for store credits are...

1)It's used
2)No receipt
3)No resale value
4)You can't even prove what store you bought it from.
5)They have a policy that you are aware of

What did you expect, sympathy?
stupid return policy?? Yea, try being responsible for keeping your receipts.
