If someone is checking your credit for rental history is that the same as a regular credit check?

if someone is checking for rent history does this show all my credit info? i have great rental history but had a few cards in college that hurt my score. will this get me denied the rental?

Answer:
Yes this is a full credit check and everything shows, but anything over 10 years ago is gone. I can't say if this will get you denied or not but it is something the landlord will look at. You need to find out what your credit score is and whats in your credit report just to make sure its accurate. There are things you can do to raise your credit score and make your report look better.
It can sorry
I'm sure they are calling the past places you rented. If the cards were a long time ago, I'm sure it won't hurt you. You should check your credit to clear up and discrepencies. www.equifax.com I just checked mine 2 days ago
It is the same as, but may not be looked at as bad as if it were a credit check for a credit card or loan.
They are checking your credit so it will all show however, they are more concerned with any judgements from past places you've lived than anything else. Different management companies have different standards when they look at credit. Most over-look medical and school loans. If they think you are a risk but they still like you they may accept a larger deposit or rent in advance if you are nice to them.
yep sure will
