Would bills not paid show up on a credit report if im under 18 and i never signed any agreement?

I am currently 17 years old. I turn 18 on december 7,1988.

On September 9, 2006, i was involved in a car accident. My car is totalled and was towed away from the scene by a company called Henry's towing. They are charging $42 a day to keep the vehicle in "storage" and are charging me outragous fees such as $75 for "administrative fees" and another 50 for a plastic tarp. The total has come out to $1200 and counting.

The vehicle has been sitting there for a few weeks, that is because I've been trying to work things out with insurance but i'm going to have to hire an attorney in order for me to get paid back.

Anyway, I never signed any form of agreement with them on this, i'm also 17 years old and the vehicle is registered to my name alone. If i do not pay them the fees that they are asking, would this effect my credit report?

Also, since i turn 18 in about 2 months, how long do these things take to get sent to collection agencies and would it matter if its sent after im 18?
Thanks

Answer:
Did you have insurance on this car? If yes, this should be a problem that your insurance company is supposed to take care of. If not, you should contact a lawyer, your credit most definitely can be ruined. I've heard of parents using their kids credit, then when the kid turns of age they find out the parent destroyed their credit, so age isn't a factor. You might be able to use a debt negotiator to lower the bill with Henry's towing and to work out a payment plan with them.Or make the call yourself, so you don't have to hire anyone else. Tell them the situation, that you do not have the finances and would like to work something out with them. I would try debt negotiation before hiring a lawyer, unless you have one in the family, their bill will be higher than the tow company's bill. Also have the car towed out of there to a junk yard before you incur any more fees. Good Luck and you can e-mail me if you want just add yahoo to the end of my name listed here.
If you weren't at fault, then the insurance company of the person who hit you will be required to pay for this in the settlement of your case.

This will come when they pay you the totalled amount.or it should.but do NOT settle until you contact an attorney.especially if this wasn't your fault.

If it was your fault, unfortunately, you may have to pay the $1200 and counting.however, this car sounds like it was impounded vs. just simply sent to a car yard after a wreck.

I have had 2 friends have totalled cars in wrecks.when theirs went to the storage, there was no charge, and the cars were left there (totalled beyond repair to the average joe).

Considering you were financially responsible on the car, you most likely will incur the burden on your credit report if you don't take care of the obligation.

I don't think a bill such as this goes to a collection agency.I am not 100% positive, but I think after a certain amount of time, the car is considered abandoned, and then the salvage is allowed to sell it as it was their own.
They are not going to give you your car back until you pay them the amount in full. Usually you have to pay auto wreckers in CASH. If you dont pay after a while they get title to the car and can sell it. It doesnt matter if your a minor you are still responsible for the bill.

This $1200 you owe them will not go to a credit agency. If you dont pay them after like 30 or 60 days they get to keep your car.
yes it will afect you dredit and they can catch up with you. it takes about 4 weeks to go to a collection agencie.
I believe it will. When I was 16 I had a utility bill in my name. I never signed any agreements but it still affects my credit today, 11 years later. I don't think they could care any less about how old you are, they want thier money.
