What is a 'roll number'? in relation to banks. cheers?
Answer:
It's what Building Societies use instead of (or, these days, sometimes as well as) an account number. It signifies your entry on the "roll of members".
If you have an account with a bank (even an ex-building society), you won't have one.
It may look something like A/123456789-Z or 0999/12345678
Cheers. It's a secret.
the long number on the front of your bank card
you will only have a roll number if your account is with a building society and if it is it will be printed on your statement.
Happy searching
It should be on your statement. A roll number is used by banks that bank with other banks. For example the Halifax holds it's account in Nat West (I think). The roll number is used to identify your account in all that money.
It is the number in your check book. It is usually under the box on your cheque above your name. It usually starts with a letter e.g D/.
roll numbers releate to building societies. something like the halifax that was a building society still uses them.
it is just another way of identifying your account to them, so if you have an account number, that will be enough so dont worry about it. if you cant find it on your statement then your bank is probably one of the ones who dont use them, so again dont worry about it.
