What's the best way to rid yourself of credit card debt?

Answer:
Pay them off and don't use them.
rob a bank
wait for tax time to roll around and pay them off then. that's what i do.
Don't get in to debt in the first place. But if you have cc debt, make more than the minimum payments, always pay on time, pay down the cards charging the highest interest rates first.
By cutting them up and pay off as much as you can afford each month!
don't use them to begin with
pay it off. If that is not possible go to a credit counseling service, but make sure it is a respectible one. I had a friend who went to credit counseling and they did not pay her bills for her on time as promised.
It may sound stupid to get a loan to pay off a loan, but I would suggest
1. cut up your credit cards, whatever, stop using them right away. The avg cc has about 20% interest on it.
2. Go to a credit union, get an account ($5 to keep it open)
3. Get a loan from your c.u., and use it to pay off the credit card completely. Stash the leftover money in your savings account, and allow them to w/d it when your loan payment is due. This will not only pay off your cc debt, but I got a loan from a c.u. 2 yrs ago at 4-5%. It will also help your credit rating. I got a 3 yr loan, for $3500, and pay only $103 a month.
Good luck
Cancel your credit card and continue to make payments
Apply for personal loan financing and settle your credit card but still u hv to cancel ur credit card
Pay using cash instead of credit card

I m sure it works but remember don stop paying
A credit card is not to be used to buy something you can't afford. It is for convience and should be completely paid off each month. To get rid of debt to not get any further into debt, get another job, and pay it off.
The best way is to get lower interest rates and make much higher than minimum payments until the balances are eliminated. If you are able to do this, there are strategies that you can take to eliminate credit card debt.

If you are having a tough time even paying the minimum payments, then you may need to work with a credit counselor. They can help you budget, and may be able to help you with a debt management plan. It can reduce your payments and interest rates if you qualify.

The first article below will help if you can pay them off on your own. The second link can help you find a local credit counselor.
Dont bring your credit card with you whenever you go out. Or the best way dont get one. Better pay everything in cash.
But your credit cards in a bag in the freezer or cut them up. Then pay off your credit card debt each month. Do not apply for another more credit cards.
1st off, stay away from credit counseling services, I was a debt collector for a while and 1/2 the people in collections are people that have joined them. The credit card co. has a signed contract with you and are no way obligated to renegotiate. They would rather you go bankrupt so they can file it on their debt insurance.
I always give this advice:
1. Stop using the cards
2. Trim your budget of unnecessary bills- cancel your cable/Internet/and pick either land phone or cell phone, cancel the other.
3. Pay the minimum payment on all cards but the one with the lowest debt, pay until it hurts on that one. As a debt is paid off move to the new lowest debt.
4. As you pay off each debt, cancel the card- do not leave open lines of credit, it effects your credit report.
5. remember to have a small celebration with the pay off of each debt. A night out or small gift to yourself helps keep you motivated and remember what your working for.
6. Keep one line of credit open for emergencies and general use. Never let this happen to you again by never charging more than you can pay each month.
I like the idea of low interest loan to consolidate debt, but it is not always an option for everyone, only those that have not damaged their credit are rewarded with the favorable interest.
This may not be the funest way to do it, but it worked for me, and I now enjoy the negotiating power that excellent credit brings!

Get rid of your credit cards, pay more than the mininum payment, and use a budget in the future.
don't get a card in the first place
cut those cards up and only spend money that you actually have----CASH! credit cards is money that you do not have. then call the companies and close the accounts and come up with a monthly payment plan that you can afford.

Be responsible now, it affects your life and your future purchases such as buying a car or a house or whatever major purchase you want to make.
Discipline. They're a handy gimmick to have unless debit cards are more widely accepted.
the worse thing you can do is go through a credit counsling service. CCSs will damage your credit rating. To rid yourself of cc debt, get a part time job, and repriotize your debt so that you
pay off the credit cards before everything else.
i hear the snowball method works best:
line up your CC's from the highest interest to the lowest. pay the minimun on all of them, but on the highest one. tack on a few extra dollars. you will end up paying this one off first. once that is paid off, you will have the extra money in your pocket (what you used to pay for this monthly bill). now you use that money and put it towards the next highest CC. continue to do this until you are down to one card. it may take a while, but you will get out of debt.
Go to Consumer Credit Counselling, they have been around a long time, and will get your debt renegotiated down, set up a budget, and advise you, but if you accept, pay or tell everyone involved if you can't, and pay what you can, and soon you will be debt free, and a money manager!!
