How do I get my good credit back???

Well me and my husband have about 5 credit cards and 2 lines of credit and 1 auto loan. Without the auto loan in with the debt it's about $8,000..My husband lost his job for a few months and we couldn't pay anything...Our credit went way down and things fell into collections.Then he got a job but we couldn't afford the minimums so we consolidated with a credit councler and for the last 3 months we have been makin payments on time and got accounts out of collections.What I really wanna know is, in about 7 months all this debt will be paid off, but is our credit scores goin to be back up if we make the min payments on time without missing 1 for the next 9 months? Were waiting on income tax if you're wondering were we will get the money to pay this off in 9 months...So will this help us or will we still have bad scores in the next 9 months..Plz help...thanks

Just be patient. You've come a long way. Minimum payments are not the best, because they may find a way to keep increasing your other fees, however, it's better than nothing. Your bad scores may not go away over night, because the history will likely remain for next several years. It is what it is. Just make sure you mail a letter to all 3 bureaus to put in your file that your husband lost his job for that period of time, which caused you to get behind.
There are lots of ways to accomplish what you want but only 1 best way. If you have lots of time and persistence, you can take a stab at it yourself. I believe, however, that your credit is at least on the same level of importance as taxes (which most people have professionally completed).
