How long does it take for bad credit take to be removed from your credit history?
Answers:
Depends, lines of credit like credit cards and installment loans show for 7-years after they are paid.
Collections show for 7-years from the first date of delinquency, bankruptcy's show for 10-years from the discharge date and inquiries show for 24-months.
Tax liens, child support and student loans continue to show until they are paid.
Collections will stay on your credit report for 7 years.
7 years on average
7 long years!! Even if the debt is paid it will be on your credit for 7 yrs. It will show as paid or revolving...but it's not going anywhere. Godd luck
I'm going with the consensus and say 7 years, but here's a link to the Fair Credit Reporting Act that actually explains how long and how it really works
