Anyone with customer service experience?? HELP!?
Answers:
Most of it is common sense. Think about how you would like to be treated as a customer.
Always refer to the store as "we/us". You are a part of the business now. Eg: "I'll check if we have stock" instead of "I'll check if they have stock".
Dealing with customer complaints is the most challenging for a new employee. Just remember in these cases to LISTEN closely to what the customer is upset about, sympathise with them and then seek a resolution. Never retalliate, as they are not really angry at YOU.
But don't put up with verbal abuse - you don't have to, EVER.

Additional: Oh, and I agree with heavensweetbliss - ACKNOWLEDGE customers when they come in, even if you are busy or with another customer. Just eye contact and a smile is enough if you can't verbally greet them at the time (eg: you're on the phone or talking to another customer). This will open the communication channels and they'll be much more likely to feel welcome and ask for any help they need.
Be nice to people. Treat them just as you would want to be treated if you were the customer.
MOST important . you will run across some real bone heads that will be a real pain ... LET that roll off your shoulder and don't let it get to you. The next customer doesn't deserve you taking it out on them. It will just ruin your day as well as theirs.
Finally, have great attendance. You boss will appreciate it and reward you over time. Trust me.
be kind happy and friendly. dont be to pushy. offer help but also give space, let them know if they want anything you are there to help.
good luck and congratulations on your new job
Acknowledge customers when they come in and ask the customer if there is anything that you can help them with. These are really major.
#1, be nice!
be helpful, but not annoying
remember, treat them as you would want to be treated :) good luck!
Try to be helpful, but not overcrowding.does that make sense?? Don't ever say I don't know, how about "let me find someone who can help you". Instead of pointing in the general direction of an item, I like to be led to the item, since it can be very crowded in some stores. If someone says they do not need help just tell them "well, I will be over here if you have any questions." Usually, I just appreciate the attention and friendliness of someone working in the store. Good Luck..
Greet every customer with a smile and a "Good morning" or whatever, if they look up at you, ask if you can help. If your branch doesn't have the colour/size the customer wants, offer to call other branches/outlets to see if if's available there, if after doing all you can and the customer has strewn everything all over the place and still not buying, you have to grit your teeth and say "Thank you, see you again" and then start folding up all the clothes again to be messed up by the next customer. And do this every day. And people think it's an easy job!! Good luck.
Some things depend on where you are in the company. I will assume that you will be doing retail sales. The best advice I can give you is:
1) Smile, remember, the customer is your boss too!
2) Learn about your product!
3) Don't *** about things in front of customers.
4) Go the extra mile. Make yourself an asset to your manager.
5) Take care of yourself! Customer service can be draining some days. Remember, this too shall pass and when arguing with an idiot, make sure they aren't doing the same thing.
People tend to either take stuff too personally, or develop thick skin.
6) Another thing, if you don;t know, say so. Then go find out! With service being 75% of US output, we all need to brush up on our service skills! Good Luck!!
