Public, what is your opinion of Wal-Mart's Treatment of Their Employees In The Media?

I liked Wal-Mart before Sam Walton died. Sam prided himself in stocking his stores with American Made products. Now all they sell are cheap imports to give them more $ in their pockets.
My SIL works at wal-mart and just this week she has had to take some time off b/c her mother is about to die. The store manager at wal-mart is supposed to call you whenever the employee has to go to the hospital or has a family member who is very ill. They are supposed to call and check on you and act like they care even if they do not. My SIL had to go to work the other day to take a paper from the doctor up there and the store manager did not even speak to her! she just walked by and acted like nothing was wrong even though my SIL has been noticeably upset. The store manager has not called her either. It may just be that particular store manager because all of the assistant managers have been very compassionate towards her. At least some people at that store do care!
i very rarely shop there unless I absolutely have to. I live in the same town as one of the "daughters" and she and her hubby have pretty much taken over. Her daughter was the one a couple of years ago that got caught paying her college roomie like mega-thousands of dollars to do her homework. My father-in-law was one of their "greeters", at age 80, they worked him like a dog, inconsistent breaks, making him work overtime if his replacement was late (no pay) and once they "allowed" him to have his "lunch" break one hour before he was to get off after he had stood at that door for 7 hours straight. He quit after 2 weeks of that.
