I want to be a CFO.?
Answers:
I haven't been one but I've worked with many.
If you could go to a top MBA school that helps with the network and skill set.
If a top MBA school is not an option then an MBA, advanced degrees in account or finance or helpful. The CPA can be a useful designation but not mandatory.
Then you would typical start as a financial analyst, take a job as a CFO for a small company. Then turn that job and experience into a bigger company and so on. Until you work your way up to CFO of a larger organization and make good money.
Skills just make sure you take alot of finance and accounting course. Some law courses and technology. Speaking and writing skill are also very valuable.
I wanna be a bank president.
You need a strong business background. You need a wealth of experience.
Go to www.monster.com and search for CFO. Read the requirements and responsibilities.
Go to www.salary.com, again read requirements and the job description.
In most companies, the CFO came up through the accountant, controller, etc ranks. Get a degree in business with majors in finance and accounting. Get your CPA, and get lots of experience. An MBA will also help, but not without the work experience. This type of career choice is dependent on both your educational level and your work experience. It will take many years of superlative performance in the business world to move to this position.
