Are other pharmacies matching Wal-Mart's $4 drug prices?

I thought I saw a Rite-Aid ad that said they would match any price.

Answers:
There may be such a promotion with Rite-Aid. We've asked several other pharmacies whether they'd lower to match on generic drugs and they say no.
Price-Chopper and certain Target pharmacies do.
You won't get any help from Walgreens or Dillions/Krogers.

Rite-Aids circular said, "We will match any prescription offer."
and ask about whether they match Wal-mart's wait time

My pharmacy doesn't match Walmart or any one else for that matter. Our business has actually increased from Walmart customers that are not getting 4 dollar medications (the majority of patients), that are now sitting on the *-end of a huge line of people complaining about their medicines NOT being four bucks.

The other more practical reason for not matching everyone's price is a legal one. Pharmacy price-fixing is highly illegal. Of course, when everybody is lowering their price it won't be prosecuted. But Walmart will raise the prices back up and soon. And when the other Pharmacies follow suit....then the fines and investigations will follow.
target does and thats about it. from what ive heard from friends i think a lot of other chain pharmacies have policies that they keep quiet, that the pharmacists are supposed to match the price if a person asks. but no most places wont, simply because walmart is using healthcare as a promotion and selling those prescriptions at a loss often times so they can draw more people into the store to buy toilet paper and crappy clothes, where real pharmacies need to make money off of their prescriptions to survive. its tough for others to compete, pharmacies cant even buy many of those prescriptions from a wholesaler for that cheap. i know our price to acquire the drugs from the wholesaler is $7-8 for some of the drugs they are selling for $4, plus you have to pay the staff, pay the bills for the building, etc... so places can maybe match some of those scripts when the drugs only cost pennies. (but those are usually ~$5-15 anyway without insurance at most places) its impossible to compete. they could have easily made the price $10 or something which would still help out cash payers (which is what they claim their intentions are) but they made it $4 knowing nobody except maybe target or kmart could follow suit.

and i have heard there are lawsuits pending in several states and they have become $8 prescriptions now in a few states, so hopefully their cheating unethical practices will soon come to an end
