Why does the bank need a physical address?

I have a PO Box because my physical address mail box is in a rural area and is not secure. At least twice a year the neighborhood kids steal mail from a lot of us. The bank wants to send my credit cards to the house. How do I get them to send it to the PO Box?

Yes, I've talked to the bank. They say they will send everything to the PO Box. So why do they want the physical address?

Answers:
So they can find you if they need to do so. PO boxes are essentially anonymous and frequently used to perpetrate fraud. A physical address is part of the due diligence that banks are required to do to even open an account under the Patriot Act.
