I've heard of it before, and I used to think it was called a franchise. But now I need to figure out what it's called. What is it called when a company opens a place for you in another country for you to be the official head of that company there? For example: Dr.Scholl's put someone I know as their official manager of the company in Libya. So he works as the head of the company in that country, and all costs are paid for by Dr.Scholl's company, not him. He just gets paid regular salary for his work. Anyone know what this phenomena is called?
Answers:
Im not very sure what you're trying to ask.
If someone is put in charge of operations in another country, they usually go by the title of Country Manager or some title to that effect. And someone who is posted to work in another country is known as an expatriate.
I hope that answers what you're trying to ask.
Dealer?
Branch Office?
Dr. Scholl's in Libya?
Dr. Scholl's Libian office?
Subsidiary (would be a diff. company name most likely)?
Other than that, if it's for a specific company with the same name only in another country, I don't think it's called anything. He just says he works for Dr. Scholls in Libya.
Sometimes people are working "remotely" at a different location... in or out of the country.
