Money went into my friends accout today and she doesn't know where it came from?

€1,800 went into her account and she is in 2 minds to take it out. She doesn't know where it came from! what do you tink she should do? has this ever happened to you?

Answers:
If she checks tomorrow online or a mini statement it will say where the money has come from.. i would not do anything about it.. but if the bank has payed it to you by mistake they can only ask you for it back they can not help themselves to it.. so enjoy..

PARTY AT YOUR HOUSE>> Wahooooooo
say nothing and pretend you know nothing.don`t spend it incase the bank want it back
She should call the bank and ask them. Taking it out would be a big mistake - if it's just a mistake, they'll reclaim it and she'll have to pay it back.
If an error created the deposit, she will have to pay it back if she takes it out. If the money isn't hers, she can't win by taking it out.
She shouldn't touch that money. It's probably a mistake and until she finds out otherwise, if she uses it, it's like stealing and while she can claim ignorance, the bank is going to want their money back.

Sorry, but honesty is always the best policy.
She should go to an ATM which is operated by her bank and print ut a mini statement and it should tell her were the money came from or if she is registared for online banking she should be able to see an online statement?
By all means, she should notify the bank. It may be hers, it may not. If the situation were reversed and her deposit had been credited to the wrong account, wouldn't she want that information and the account corrected as soon as possible?
It could be stealing by finding. If the account bears interest - leave it alone. If not put it in a safe place until it is claimed - a high interest account! LOL. Check the reference number on the payment - it could be a tax refund, EU grant for growing straight bananas - or an EU grant for not growing bananas...
Looks like someone at the bank slipped up big time. She does need to own up about it as they can take it back without warning she must not think of spending it.
well call the bank..they will tell you where the money came from.
interenet banking tells the source of the deposit or she could just pop in the bank and ask.it will have the name/company of whoever deposited the money.
She should definitely contact the bank as soon as possible aside from her getting into trouble if she spends it and it was a bank error think of the trouble the other person is going to have if they start writing bad checks on the money they thought they had. You have a moral obligation to fix this as soon as possible.
Similar thing happened tome. I guy got a money transfer from Western Union and his set of #'s was 1 off from my bank account. I didn't notice till I got a letter saying I was seveierly overdrawn. Turns out the guy who sent it canceled the check. Long story short the bank admitted the mistake and refunded me the money, but I don't think it works out so well every time. Let your concious be your guide.
You can't keep money that's been put into your bank by error, it is a criminal act. If it's a mistake it will probably be traced and withdrawn quite quickly. If she withdraws it herself it will be a double withdrawal and she may well then be overdrawn and have to pay penalty payments. Either inform the bank or leave it alone until she receives an explanation of some sort.
shi* so this is where my money went !

ill be excpecting a full refund please, there is no need for any delays .. obviously an error has occured ..
its mine. i want it back now! tell her to give me a buzz or else!
Before taking the money out of the bank, she needs to contact them and ask them where it came from. If they made a mistake, she will have to pay the money back. Also, the person making the deposit could have the wrong account number in which she would have to pay it back.
This happened to me about four years ago and the sum was much larger than the case you mention. I said nothing to the bank until they took the money from my account. They contacted me to explain that a "mis-posting" had been made and they were going to reclaim the interest paid from my account but would pay me of 25% of the interest as a goodwill payment.
Contact the Bank immediately. Do not spend the money. It is not hers. The Bank made a mistake. This happens once in a while.

If she spend the money, she could be charged with fraud. Just do the right thing. The Bank will find out sooner or later.
