What does Wal Mart do with returned merchandise?

I went to return some film and undershirts today and they said it is sent back to the company.

But what next? What do they does wal mart end up doing with all that opened stuff? Anyone? I'm curious.

Answers:
The answer is it depends. Since we are talking Walmart the answer to it depends is answered with how they make the most money.

Most of the time the product is restocked another customer buys it. (Yes even clothes). I would guess the person lied or choose to half answer your question about the undershirts. They most certainly restocked them.

If the product is something that can't be dealt with that way, for example film. Walmart will return it to the supplier. Walmart is then reimbursed consistent with their contract with the vendor.
Usually it is simply made into land fill. Some things, like textiles are resold in bulk, usually over seas.
Oh my GOD! You mean they don't just take a loss for our sake and throw every piece of returned merchandise straight in the trash just because it was opened!? Well I Never!
