Strategy of a manager should be...?

tell me if i have been promoted to the post of manager-sales thn what should be my working strategy towards my duties as a manager and towards my team members who are working under me. i am working in a Real Estate Company so i just want to know that how can i perform my duties without a glitch. what should be the strategy i have to follow as a sales manager.

Different people adopt different strategies, so it depends on yourself and the style of the company.

Sales management is often very competitive. Which means you need to be a little bit pushy, but also quick to reward those people who are successful, which jumping on unethical behaviour.

Sales can be a hard job and so while you are pushing people to do better, you must also be supportive amd encourage people to be part of a team.

People also perform their work better when they are being watched. For sales it can a matter of working closely with your sales team, get them used to being there. It also creates opportunites for people to make suggestions and improvements for the company.
Walk the talk and lead by example.

A sales manager has to be hands on. Always stay on top of everything that is happening in the company. Do a lot of talking. Talk to your boss, talk to the people under you and talk to customers. Always keep your cell phone on.

The best part of a Manager is that you are expected to make others work. So do that. Give every one some work and then check if they have done it. Always insist on a reporting system. Call for meetings. Individually and as a team. Make everyone give you a report. Make everyone set a target and push them to achieve it.

its challenging, create challeng in the minds of your subordinates,and give them for targets and opportunities, ask for suggestion and give suggestion, keep meeting, good contacts and communication only, this can help u out and the company performs well only if the sales increase.
As a manager or leader of a team , it doesnt matter which industry you are in, your role is to influence or persuade yr team to be effective. In order to do that, you need to have people-skills, the humility to listen to yr team n their ideas; the smart to know if they are good ideas etc. To earn respect, you must demonstrate integrity, wisdom and friendship.
