What's the difference between profit and revenue?

Answers:
revenue = total income

Profit = total income -- expenses
Revenue = Total amount of money received by a company for its goods and services

Profit = Total Revenue minus Total Costs (in other words, what you can actually keep and spend)
the preceding two answers were correct - so eliminated the need for mine :)
So I thought I would take the opportunity to give a simple example:

If I own a shoe shop and each pair of shoes I stocked cost me $1 and I sell them for $3.then my Revenue is $3 and my profit is $2

Hope it helps :)
Revenue is total sold. Profit is revenue minus expenses.
