HR question-Why should an employee report to only one boss, rather than have to answer to two or more people?
Answers:
Hmmm, why should a child have only one parent?
In any situation where there are subordinates and supervisors, there has to be accountability. If you have two supervisors, then who do you take your concerns to, who do you report to when you've finished a task, what's more...who is to say that both supervisors will be in sync at all times. You may be given repetive tasks because they are not communicating. Also, if you make a mistake, you may be disciplined twice for the same mistake. That is not very efficient.
Because they can get conflicting work instructions. There is no problem in having someone higher in the system ask accountability questions, but they should refer to one immediate supervisor.
