I dont understand what KPI (Key Performance Indicator) is all about!?
Answers:
A Key Performance Indicator is a clearly measurable objective, the results of which will actually correlate highly with the overall success of the business. So, a KPI couldn't be trivial, nor could it be subjective, nor could it be impossible to measure accurately. The use of KPIs in a business environment has the advantage of ensuring that all associates know what matters and how they can directly impact the success of the organization.
It is mostly about organizational goal obtainment and measuring progress toward said obtainment. It is usually things that directly affect the organizations goals and mission statement. like for schools, it may be the percentage of high school graduates that obtain better than minimum wage jobs after graduation. This would be a direct reflection on the school's ability to meet it's goal of teaching the students skills needed in the workforce...
the wikipedia article on it is written for analysts, but the article sited in sources has a much better (and easier to follow) description.
