Is the gatorade company a private company or is it owned by another company?

Gatorade was started by a college at florida, thus the gator name, but was sold to Pepsico company i beleive.
Gatorade is not a company by itself, it is part of Pepsi-Co's division that includes Quaker and Tropicana (along with Aquafina and a number of other brands).
I think it's a subsidiary, although I don't know the parent corporation. Maybe Coca-Cola? It actually says on the bottles who the parent is.
Plus, by private company, do you mean not publicly-traded?
