How dose google and yahoo make there money?

I was wondering how is it that yahoo and google make there money, when we do'nt pay any money (not that i am aware of) to them for using there search engines

Answer:
from advertisers who advertise on there search engine. notice the sponsor results when you search something. and al the advertisment all around the page.
Contextual advertising such as Google Adsense and Adwords, and YPN! Publisher network, not to mention oodles of conventional advertising.
Thats a very good question, even I didnt think of it.
when we submitting a website to the search engine of Yahoo! and Googles it is chargeable & this is one of the way for these 2 companies to make money.

Yahoo! earns more because of multi services available (e.g domain name, anti virus software, search engines, etc.)

Internet based company like global domain international is earning billion per year due to the MLM business around the worl too (visit them here: http://www.freedom.ws/moneymknsonny. )

Your questions and my answers make money for them through advertisements. All I bank on is the hope that you would mark my answer 'the best' and give me 10 points. Thanks.
Well just like everybody said above ^ they advertise and they get paid to do so. Havent u notice that if ur signing up for an email account & just say u want 2 gigs of space, then you'll have 2 pay for it.
"Free" Programs that they supply arent complete and if u want the full version, then guess what?... YOU gotta PAY
