An employee drove a company van for work and got a ticket for violating trafic rules. Should the company pay?

Answer:
No. The company may own the vehicle but the driver is responsible for obeying traffic rules. If a driver gets a ticket in a rented car should the rental company be responsible? Of course not .
No, of course not. The company didn't tell the employee to violate traffic laws, did it?
Absolutely not
No. The employee should pay. He should also be prepared to be fired. I don't think the company is going to be happy with what he did.
the driver should pay
Nope.. the company most likely has a policy stating that any violation are the responsibility of the driver.. not the company..
Well, this is a two sided question. What I do know is that the company will pay in the long run, when their insurance premium increases because of the ticket.
But the employee should pay the ticket fine because they are the one that violated the law.
sorry it is on you ...... if you recieved a ticket for the company van, bad tires or equipment issues then the company should pay
Depends on what kinds of violations. If it is drunk driving, reckless driving. Fire the guy because if he hurts someone the company gets sued. However, there are some gray areas that companies sometimes jump in and help. For example, company I used to work for sells and delivers thousands of photo copiers all over the state. Some of them are in down town locations where parking is just impossible. In order to get the job done, sometimes the driver has no choice but to park illegally. Every now and then some cops will just won't cut anyone a break. The company does not encourages but at the same time, the supervisors also know they have to deal with realty.
