When calling a company on a toll-free number, why is it that you have to wait so long?

Do they really get so many calls on customer service?
Or is that the workers just make you wait while they fool around?

Answer:
Call centers try to staff according to the volume of calls they receive. Typically centers are busier early in the week. Try not to call during lunch time hours as staff levels are lower.

Most companies make money answering calls and remember they are paying for the call when it is a toll free number
