Who are the competitors of IBM?

IBM's competitors

Answer:
The group of mainframe computer competitors to IBM in the 1970s became known as the BUNCH: Burroughs, UNIVAC, NCR, Control Data Corporation, and Honeywell.

The "Gang of Nine" was a group of IBM competitors who came together in 1988 to build the EISA architecture, to compete with IBM's MCA. These companies were AST Research, Compaq Computer, Epson, Hewlett-Packard, NEC, Olivetti, Tandy, WYSE, and Zenith Data Systems.

In addition to the above there are more competitiors amd tp name a few from memory -

Computer Memories Inc. (CMI)
Atarisoft
Sperry Corporation
IBM is mostly a BIG computer hardware company.
They have very few competitors.
Microsoft is a software company, their biggest competitor is Oracle. Of which is like 15% of the market, Microsoft is like 75% of the market. Very little competition.

PS We use Oracle at my job, it sucks.
My wife's job tried it, threw it out. It sucked there, too.

But the sales reps at Oracle do a lot of dinners and golf games to get their products sold.
lg
IBM is a large corporation and has numerous competitors in different sectors it is involved in.

Picking 3 major sectors

IT Hardware
Probably Sun, HP and some larger rack server vendors like Dell

Software Products
Main offerings of note around database (DB2) and middleware (Websphere) - here Oracle and its acquisitions would be the main competition

Services
Acting as consultants, system integrators and operators - here major competitors would be HP, Accenture, Unisys, EDS, Atosorigin, CapGeminiErnst & Young and some parts of Oracle.
