Depends what country you live in... In Ireland as a sole trader your only option is to register a trading name which is registered to you personally..
But i guess it could be different in other countries..

for the uk you need to contact hrmc tax office to register your new business, they will send you a paye tax reference and other material, I think possibly you can do this online, but if you have a accountant he should be able to sort it out for you if you are not sure
