How does perception impact the decision making in organization behavior?

Answer:
The six step rational decision making involves the following:
1.Define the problem
2. identify the decision criteria
3. Weigh the criteria
4. Generate alternatives
5. Rate each alternative on each criteria
6. Compute the optimal decision
Most decisions in the real world do not follow the rational model. People are usually content to find an acceptable or reasonable solution to their problem than an optimal one. Intuittive decision making is an unconscitious process created out of distilled experience. here Perception play a vital role and we happily call it creative thinking.

Perception is how you view things decision makign(i know you know what this is) organzatino behavior is how well you organize an react when needed to.

How you view things decides on when and what do you organize and keep it that.
Almost all mid sized to large organizations manage most decisions based on perceived reality.Although objective parameters seem important ,its normally ignored in the last step of decision making i.e when the decision is actually made
Perception is the name of the game, especiall since you point out the behavioral aspects.

Organizational changes are made base on perceptions of results, expectations and analysis of the processes. Imagine a scenario: A company makes capital expeditures of $X. For that expense, the company is told to expect a cost recovery within a certain amount of time, and realize profits of a certain amount per month after that.

But the results turn out that the cost recovery is twice as long as expected, and the subsquent profits are half what was anticpated. An accountant's perception may be that the original expectations were inflated. An engineer, after his analysis determines that the money was spent on the wrong kind of installation. The technician on the line observes that the product comes out backwards at the end of the line, and time and effort is lost turning it around before packaging.

Three sets of analysis, based on three individual perceptions, and each would call for completely different solutions. Somewhere, up the chain of command, someone must make a decision. Does the organization continue to run, but with lowered expectations? Does the entire expenditure get tossed out and more money gets spent to start over? Does process get changed so that the packaging get laid out reversed, saving the labor of turning each piece of product around?

The one making decisions chooses a solution by knowing who's perception is best applied.
