Just how stupid are some bosses?

I got fired yesterday because the office where I worked at had 9 employees, well my boss wanted to make more profit so he fired everyone and left me doing all the work plus supporting another 4 people and answering phones which never stopped.
Well I got fired for faxing a fax to the wrong number.
Then he told me that my attitude sucked that I should have apologized more and kiss butt to make up for it.
I've never felt worse
It obviously boosts their ego.
I had a boss call me Mark for two month's. You know its not my name.
Thats why we call the boss a "stupidvisor"
I have been in both places, a supervisor and an employee.
The one thing I hated was whiners, but most people that would come up to me and "kiss up" I knew what they were after, I ones that I would pay most attention to was the ones with good ideas. From the out side it looked like they were kissing up but we were talking about work and new ideas. Each boss is different so you just need to figure it out and find your advantage point.
bosses thrive on their asses being kissed. it reaffirms that they have power witch if they are a guy means everything.
The closer I get to retirement the more I get asked to upgrade to management. I helped train most of the ones that are in management. There's no way I want to be part of that crowd. My ego is completely intact right where it is. It doesn't need a boost. Sure, I'd like the money, but not at the expense of having to answer to some of those clowns.
It does boost their ego and it makes me sick. I am a very good worker but I hate myself when I kiss butt. It seems that it is the best way to get ahead though. Far less skilled people than myself get promotions, it seems, by simply stroking egos.
Some bosses love suckups. Why fight it, join them. If bosses dont like people, they fire them. Maybe you just see these coworkers in a different light than yourself. Think positive.

Bosses are just human beings. When human beings are insecure, they look outside themselves for validation. Even if it's ingenuine, they need it like an addict needs her or his addictive substance. Unless insecure human beings experience a life-threatening situation or undergo psycho-therapy, they rarely become secure or develop a healthy level of self-esteem.
But is this your real question or do you want to know how to be treated fairly in your workplace? Or did you just need to vent a bit?
