Has anyone actually gotten a job from the job posting sites?

Answer:
Yup, I have gotten two jobs that way - both from Monster. And I have had loads of calls from companies who had seen my resume online and wanted to interview me. Monster and Careerbuilder both seem to be excellent sites for job searching.
I've found a couple of jobs on Careerbuilder
I haven't.
I do target companies that I may see on a job posting website & go to the company's website directly.

I got 2 jobs this way, including the one I'm at now.
yes
Yes, job sites can be great and some a waste. I suggest picking niche job boards, one's that specialize in your field on interest (eg. fashion, sports, law, hospitality, sales.). These boards just speak to you, know what you are looking for. These boards attract serious employers. The trick is to have a kick * resume. One that bullet-points your succeses. If your resume is weak the response will be, too. I like Careerbuilder and the Tool sites:
thefashiontool.com
thesportstool.com
thenursingtool.com
theretailtool.com
thehospitalitytool.com
thenonprofittool.com
theentertainmenttool.com

Good Luck!
