I am thinking of going into the Travel industry?

Like for example if i wanted to work on the travel channel, what requirement do i need. I am thinking of pursuing my own tv show in the future, like Samantha Brown Passport To Europe Series. Do I have to major in History? Etc.. Can someone enlighten me as to getting in the travel industry,.. Suggestions are welcome Thanks!
