Does anyone do medical transcribing at home, course costs almost 2k, wondering if it's worth it. Please help!
Answer:
My wife has her own medical transcription business and works from home, averaging about $25 - $30 an hour. Her advice is to shop around for different courses and compare prices. She also says you can make more money with your own MT business than working for someone else. Hope this helps.
My Aunt, who is a medical office manager does transcribing from home. She says it really helps with the bills, holiday shopping. I think if done full time it would be worth your investment.
If you know how to type and will purchase a medical dictionary, why pay someone $2,000 to show you how to put the two together? Find someone willing to give you some materials to transcribe, let them work with you, build up experience, and you're there!
It's good, but software writers are going in the direction of eliminating the cost of medical transcriptionists.
My doctor already uses a laptop instead of vocally recording details of my visits.
You can do the class with JUST: A-Medical Terminology course. B-Basic Medical Transcription. C-Advanced Medical Transcription. I am working right next to folks who spent a LOT of $$ for what I got in 3 community college classes. And I had a job before I finished the 3rd one!! I am making as much $$ as my coworkers, and my work is equal to or BETTER than any of them..
