Should I go to work today or take a long weekend?

I work at a family fun center and they've really made me mad, they changed my hours for today without even asking. If I call off they won't be short staffed. Actually their over staffed today. I feel perfectly fine and it's a gorgeous fall day outside. Plus if I go I'm only working 2:30 to 6 which hardly seems worth my energy to go in.

Answer:
go you'll want the money later and when you are really sick you can use the day cause I did that last week and now my check is short a day and I needed the money enjoy after you get off but just lay low at work they wont notice sice you are overstaffed you never know they might send you home since you are overstaffred
chill out
take a long weekend
Long weekend for sure. There are only so many nice days. Enjoy this one.Life is too short to be working all the time.
THREE DAY WEEKEND! (Especially if it is a minimum wage job!)
go to work.you'll want a day off another time :)
I wouldn't blame you at all. If they're going to be overstaffed anyway then they're not going to be missing you that much. Not nice of them to change your hours without asking. harumph!
Sounds like your mind is already made up hun. Go for it!! Take the long weekend!!
i have learned thru a few life lessons that life itself is very short. of course you have to take care of responsibilities but dont ever stop taking time to experience the smallest pleasures in life which turn out to be the most joyous ones. but also remeber that if you take this day off and spend that time feeling guilty about it , then what was the purpose?
so my answer is call in and enjoy the day..not one of us knows if we will be here tomorrow.
Go to work.
Have a good weekend.
You might regret it when you pick up your paycheck next week, but what the heck. Have fun!
You might want to go ahead and go in. You may really need that call off one of these days when your ill. Plus the holidays are right around the corner.
You have a job. I am hoping that means you are a responsible person. Do the responsible thing and go to work. Prior notice of vacation time is greatly appreciated.
Gee, you really have a great work ethic.
If it doesn't put your job on the line, by all meams enjoy the beautiful day today away from work and go back to work Monday all refreshed and relaxed.
if you don't go, who pays? by that, I mean, who is most damaged?

when were you aware they had changed your schedule?
how often is it posted and for how many days? have you had any time to tell them this scheduling was unexpected and you can't make it? have you told them you don't think it is fair to change your schedule?
where i live, it is illegal to schedule for less than four hours without the consent of the employee; a shorter shift would still mean I get paid for four hours
seems like you don't really like this job, and you're looking for a reason to skip the day.
I think the responsible thing to do would be to show up for your shift, but put in writing or tell the boss if she/he is there that you think it was inappropriate for someone to change your shift and that it inconvenienced you and that at a future date if there are any last minute changes without someone having enough respect to clear it with you first you may not be able to make the shift. It would be highly inappropriate for your boss to have a problem with you if you are straightforward. On the other hand, if it is the nature of the business to make last minute changes, and you are aware that this may happen from time to time, either go with it or give notice.
It will probably still be nice out at 6pm
Stay home and enjoy the weekend if you really don't need the money. On the other hand if you really need the funds go in and then enjoy the rest of the day and your weekend.
