How do i ask for leave for my MBA gmat exam ?

I have been working in this organisation for 3 years. Never gone on leave for more than a week. I have about 30-40 days of accrued leave. I have my gmat exams coming up in three weeks time. I was not well for past two three weeks and havent studied much. I HAVE to take leave now and concentrate on my exam. I need 3 weeks leave. How do i convey this to my boss.

My immediate boss is not very understanding. Her boss, who was my previous boss is understanding. I plan to talk to him first. But dont know if he would grant me full 3 weeks. Also dont know if i ask leave for gmat, will they sideline me after that thinking that i will anyway leave someday. I dont want to lie and take leave on the pretext of being ill, as i dont think thats ethical.

Can you please suggest a diplomatic way of getting my leave sanctioned as well as being at good terms with my boss.

Answer:
nothing is more sincere than being honest. try talking with reason with your boss and maintain a professional demeanor. if your boss is unreasonable, i will seriously consider looking for other employment. you certainly will have no future in an organization where the working environment is hostile and not conducive to work for.
