It could be that you are overqualified. That just means that they want someone that they believe will stay with them long term. And since your a college graduate they think your goin on to bigger and better things, which you should! Best of Luck!

It's hard to say why they didn't hire you. Go by the place and mention to them that you turned in a application a few weeks ago. Let them know that you are still interested in the job. I've gotten several jobs by being persistent. I told the manager at one bar that I wanted to work at that he was going to get tired of seeing me. I went there every week. They finally hired me. Good luck.

It could be you are overqualified. You didn't say what you applied for or what the job was for. I saw a program the other day saying if you had a distinctive name ..you might not be hired.You might go back and ask why you weren't selected..what they were looking for. Did you see the tv program Ugly Betty on Thursday night..?? They were looking for drop dead high style beauties and the president hired her because she wasn't pretty!!You never know..
You should go in and ask why they didn't hire you. If nothing else, it will be instructive to you as to how you should handle subsequent applications/interviews. You may have done or said something that came across in an unprofessional fashion; it would be helpful to you to find out what that might have been. It also might have been that someone else was better qualified than you were.
