It happens all the time. It hasn't happened to me, but here is a true story. I was a staffer for a temporary agency-I placed people in jobs in various manufacturing factories. I once hired a young guy. His supervisor called me and told me although he was a good worker, she wanted me to fire him because she didn't like the way he walked.Can you believe it? I couldn't tell him that of course, so I just told him he wasn't needed there anymore. I immediately found him another job-a better one. It wasn't long after that I quit. I just didn't think the things they wanted me to do was right.

Yes, unfortunately, Michigan is a right to work state so they do not need to have a reason to fire you. It was all because I was injured on the job and was in such pain and would not come into work with a painted on smile.
