4 mths til I get my finance degree (3.1 GPA) with 0 exp. What can I do now to ensure a job when I graduate?
Answer:
Without a high GPA (3.5 or better) you're going to have to front a massive campaign to find a job. Finance is a difficult degree to place at entry level. You will need to carefully think through what kind of job you are willing to take - and what compromises you are willing to make on the front end of your career.
You don't mention the part of the country you live in. Some areas are "easier" than others.
Some industries that hire finance folks at entry level include banks, energy companies, trading firms, insurance and the Fortune level biggies.
Your best bet is to prepare several versions of your resume to highlight your strengths - accounting, statistics, computer skills, etc.
If you're particullary strong in financial economics you can look at positions in quantitative analysis as well.
Good luck in your career search!
