Can someone out there tell me what i need to do to get a job in a travel agents .?

Do I need any special qualification

Answer:
you can go to college and do a BTEC in Travel and Tourism.

Entry into the industry is normally at junior level as there are no minimum requirements other than basic GCSE qualifications. Most travel agents will have to embark on an intensive induction course before they are given customer-facing responsibilities to enhance their selling skills and their product knowledge. Regular update courses will be given throughout their employment and these may even include educational visits to overseas destinations to enable them to more effectively sell these to the customer.

There are a number of training courses and qualifications available that can enhance skills and knowledge including BTEC First and National Diplomas in Travel & Tourism, HNC/HND in Travel & Tourism Management and even degrees or postgraduate qualifications. There is also the option of complete the Travel Training Programme, an apprenticeship scheme which combines work placements with structured training. The travel industry is regulated by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) and they also offer qualifications which will demonstrate a Travel Agent’s industry knowledge and professional competence. The International Air Transport Association (IAEA) offers further qualifications in itinerary planning, fare construction and ticketing for multiple journeys as well as other key areas of the industry.
I don't think you quailification just go and aply for a job and see want happens
I would recommend you think twice about being a travel agent. With all of the internet travel sites the demand for agents has shrunk tremendously. Agencies are having a difficult time staying afloat because they are losing commissions from hotels, airlines etc because travelers are making their own arrangements. As a result, they are now charging travelers a fee to service them. Most people won't use an agent because of these fees.
I worked for a Tour Operator which is pretty much the same thing. The pay isnt very good but you'll have a good time. Usually having the BA fares & ticketing qualification guarntees an interview, They also love people who have visited a few countried or who have worked abroad. Sales & customer service come into this job a lot so if you can prove you have these qualities then even better for you.
If you live in the UK Thomson are always looking for people.
