Should I call my interviewer to tell her I unintentionally lied?
I am very motivated, passionate, and excited about this job. It's a job that I thought of all throughout college, now I have the interview.
Unfortunately, I feel so bad that I did put that I received my bachelor's when i still have that one class left. I figured by the time I'd hear from them I would have settled or finished my internship, but again, my recruiter quit. Should I call the individual interviewing me tomorrow and let her know my situation or e-mail her? Also, it's a city position, will this jeopardize my interview or ability to proceed? Thank you so much. I'm really worried at this moment and really don't want to know that I can lose this job. Thank you.
Answer:
Since it's a city position, they may have a policy that they can't hire you for the job without the degree. In any case, you must explain during the interview, not via email. You have a good explanation for the unintentional lie since you thought you'd have the final class prior to the interview taking place. They will appreciate the honesty. You may not get the job just now, but they will remember you and possibly have an even better job for you when you complete the degree. DO go ahead and complete the degree program ASAP.
I think you should tell them at the interview about your particular situation and whatever your plan is to complete your degree (I assume that a bachelor's degree is required.) I doubt that missing out on one class would keep you from a job that you were otherwise qualified for. Good luck
THAT WAS YOU !! YOUR FIRED !
Honesty is always the best policy. You may not get the job this time around but there will be more. BUT you may get it simply based on the fact that they can trust you to be honest and forthright. GOOD LUCK!
I'd think that if you tell them exactly what you've said here, you should be ok. Besides, if it were me, I'd have more respect for you for having the guts to BE honest, whatever the consequences. Somebody did a good job raising ya. Good luck- I'd give you the job!
only if you think it will change enough to guarntee you the job
Yeah, I think you should tell. Don't email, it's not personal enough. You could wait for the interview. If it were me, I would probably wait, but I would definatly tell them. They may have another position for you or may be able to clear you working until you actually get the degree.
Yes, tell her so you can clear your conscience, that way it won't continue to trouble you and you can sleep better. Honesty is the best policy! Obviously it has continued to bother you so you should say something!
