Why would the district manager hire a manager who is?

incompetent? I'm not a key-holder, but I am full time and she still asks me if I know how to close the register and do the paperwork and she's been there for a month already. She can't even get my name straight because theres's another girl who's name starts wit the same letter as mine.

They expect this woman to make a store that is not doing very well bring the store back up to it's original potential. What are your thoughts.

Give me stuff to read..

Answer:
Quit doing her job.
The longer you keep doing it for her the longer it will take upper management to figure out that she can't do her job.
Obviously she has something with the district manager. She may have impressed him in some other way and covered up her incompetence. For some reason good butt kisses usually get a promotion faster than the hard workers who do not make their presence known. She will trip up and fall or take her head out of her butt and learn what she needs to do. No one can fake it forever!
As far as the name thing goes, if she calls you by someone elses name do not even look at her (walking away is effective too and when she follows you just say, "oh I'm sorry were you talking to me? I heard you say "someone else's name") Wait for her to get it right on her own.
Good luck girl!
There are strategic managers and task oriented managers. Strategic managers put plans and procedures in place to help steer the operation in the desired direction. This does not necessarily require them to do the job of their subordinates. However, they should have an understanding of what goes on both below and around them so that they are able to put together realistic achievable plans. Conversely, task managers tend to steer the operation by getting knee deep in just about every area. Although admirable, these managers sometimes lack delegative skills. They quickly burn out and generally create an environment of high stress. The professional way to handle this would be to partner with the manager (whatever style they exhibit), help her to help make your job easier. Let her know that you are aware that the operation is broken and that you are willing to help her save the ship. Give her some ideas on how to streamline your job, or better yet, let her know that you are willing to take on some additional responsibilities if she implements some of your ideas. Afterall, you have been there for a while and know what's going on. I can assure you that she is stressing just as much (if not more) as you and needs your assistance far more than she is letting on. The relationship can either be collaborative or combative and you have the power to determine which one it will be. You have much more influence over this entire situation than you realize.
It is a bad hire for sure . Do not do her work . She may have something going on with the manager or could be related . She will not last long cause you can only hide incompetence so long .
