If you give your two week notice at your job, can you be denied your vacation if you have it coming?
It was brought to my employer's attention that I may have another job, and he said, you don't have to put in a two week notice if I do get the job. I will find out Monday If I do get it, then I would want to use my already scheduled vacation, then start the new job week after next. Since he said (sincerely) I don't need to put in the two week notice, it sounded to me like he was politely firing me, but the fact remains I gave no actual "notice" yet. I was waiting to actually talk to him after I found out for sure on Monday. Someone I trusted let the cat out of the bag. You can't trust anyone, I guess.

Often times, employers won't pay you for vacation time during your two week notice period. However, usually you are entitled to your accrued vacation time and will be paid it in a check a week or so after your last check. So you may not get paid for it now, but you should get the money eventually. If you work at a medium to large company, you should have an employee handbook that explains their policy in more detail. You are entitled to any accrued vacation time earned before and during your notice time. By law, an employer MUST pay all owed vacation time to the employee no matter how short a time the employee worked.
