I am a nail tach and have been working at my sisters salon for about 1 year but befor that I was working there as a receptionist for about 6 years. The money is not enough and she can't pay me anymore than I already get. I looking for a new job and have an interview on Monday. If I find a better job how should I tell my sister I have to leave. Also what do I do about clients I have in the book for months ahead. Please help. I'm really scared my sister will be hurt.

Answer:
If it makes any impact to you.I live in an area where the majority of jobs are minimum wage. I have a friend that started working as a nail tech when she was just 15 and now is 21. She took a class in Baltimore for doing facials and such that lasted 3 months. Now she moved back and is working for a good hair salon here. She makes an average of $52,000 a year doing nails, pedicures, and facials! Your sister is limiting your potential. If she cares for you.she will realize you are being held back eventually. Do what you NEED to do. Working with and for family is generally not a good thing to do to begin with. She will get over her hurt. Give her credit for loving you. You may be surprised at how much support you get from her.
This isn't just a career issue, it's a family issue as well. You should give your sister at least two weeks notice, a month would be even better - so that you can train your replacement (who will then take over your customers). You need to sit down and talk to your sister, tell her what you just wrote on here, i'm sure she may be a little bit upset - but she should be able to see that you are doing what is best for you.
i dont think your sister will be just talk this over with her say coz she can't pay you more money you dont have much to live on and you have to look for a work that pay more say to her you understand she cant pay you more just sit down with your sister and talk this over im sure she will understand
well thats something you shouldve talked to her about before. i mean just be honest. you shouldve told a while back hey its not enough money and i need more or ill have to start looking for one that can support me. either that or work 2 jobs.call or tell your clients hey ill be work at blah blah blah now and i would appreciate it if you would remain my client and come see me there. thast way you have double the clients.speak up bb its not that hard.
