Gaining job experience?
Answers:
Oh, I feel for you. When I first moved to California I didn't have any job experience but I needed a job...badly. But All I hear was "sorry we need someone with experience" so I took a bank teller course so I could work for a bank. Even then the banks I applied for shot their door because they want someone with experience. My last job interview at the time, after the interviewer told me she needs someone with experience, I just lost it and told her "I'm tired of hearing everyone needing someone with experience, how can I get any experience if no one would give me the chance?" She felt so bad for me that she called one of her branch manager near my place and set-up an appointment for me then I got the job. Good Luck.
what kind of jobs are u applying for?
Its a bit of a catch-22 situation.
When I got my first job in IT I had to lie a little to get in there. It is silly I know.
However I've just read and IT careers book, and it says that you should try getting jobs by walking around business parks talking to employers directly, rather than applying through agencies - and the lack of experience problem is less of a problem.
Its probably not what you want to do but voluntary work is a great way of opening doors to employment. You don't say what type of job you are looking for so this may not be possible but there are all sorts of charities out there that need extra help behind the scenes. That will give you lots of experience (although it will not bring in the money)
