How long should I wait to call after putting in an application?
Answers:
2 days. Any more, and the decision will already have been made. Any sooner, and you will appear desperate and weird. Simply state that you are still interested in the position and calling to follow up, and learn if they have decided who to hire.
Remember, in addition to hiring the next person for the job, your potential employer is spinning a lot of other plates to try and keep their business rolling.
Good luck.
Call every two days. Introduce yourself clearly every time. Tell the receptionist or HR personnel how interested you are in the position and that you are inquiring as to the status of your application. Be really nice.
Following up every couple of days is usually ok. You want to make sure that your name stays fresh in the recruiters mind. To take it a step further, once you get an interview, follow it up with a Thank You letter. This help you stand out from the other applicants. Hi! It depends on where you applied. Say for example, retail. I noticed that when companies were actually hiring and were interested interviewing, they called back within a week to no more than two weeks later. If they are only accepting applications, then that is totally different. Good luck!
