Has anyone gotten a job at the same company where your best friend works and you regret it?

My best friend got me a great job at her company last year. It started out great. Gradually, I start noticing little jabs and barbs every once in awhile directed at me. She's the project manager of the project I work on (not my boss, but she can get me fired). Then I noticed , whenever I would mention a topic, she would one-up me or make the conversation about her. The jabs and one-upping has ruined my respect for her. My question is this? Should I stay in a good-paying job and endure it? Or start looking elsewhere? Which I have already. I even tried turning the tables back on her several times, but it didn't work. She kept on going. Now I can't stand to be around her. What is your best advice?

Yes I would definitely start looking elsewhere. Ive worked under supervision of a friend, and they start to act as if they are better than you. Everything suddenly changes, they think that you are in debt to them, and there is also the factor of them not wanting you to climb up the ladder. To me I feel like if you want to keep a friend, never work with them and never lend them money, but that's just me.
Yes - in fact I was just talking to somebody about this the other day. A person who went on maternity leave asked a friend to fill in for her for the period she was going to be away.

All good and well - however when she got back from Maternity leave the friend managed to get another role in the company (in other words she didn't leave).

The person who went on maternity leave started to bully her and turn the organisation against her now ex-friend.
Hey- not even a BEST friend- just a friend / acquaintence. (our husbands work together). She offerred me the job, made lots of promises then never followed through after I took the job! Very uncomfortable now! I'm looking elsewhere.
